JOB SUMMARY: This position will be expected to demonstrate behavior consistent with the core values of St. Peter's Hospital and support the goals and direction of the quality improvement process. The accountant will act as an advisor to management, providing decision support and product line analysis for the hospital. The accountant will assist the Director in maintaining the CDM. This position will be responsible for the integration of financial and statistical data to meet the varied reporting and management information needs of internal and external requirements (eg. design and maintenance of departmental responsibility reports, bi-weekly productivity reports and financials). Works as a partner with the Director in completion of the accounting function of the hospital on a timely basis within the objectives and policies established by Senior management.
KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: Requires verbal, analytical, and interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively with various hospital personnel and external customers in the collection and completion of complex and confidential data. Ability to listen constructively and analyze or make changes to processes and systems that will improve the integrity of the over all information system. Ability to comprehend detailed verbal and written instructions in order to complete complex and detailed reports, questionnaires and analysis of variance without direct or constant supervision. One to three years hospital or other healthcare experience preferred.
EDUCATION: Accounting, statistical and communication skills normally acquired through the completion of a bachelor's degree with emphasis on accounting or business. Formal training in use of computer mainframes and personal computers is desired.
LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/REGISTRY: CPA desirable
OTHER: Ability to concentrate and work with constant interruption along with set deadlines for over 90 percent of the work time. Must demonstrate capacity to quickly gain the respect of others and multi-task.
